1. If this was blue cheese which was for fairly immediate human consumption then you should have no serious worries. That said some dogs do suffer from a mild transient stomach upset when they suddenly eat a quantity of almost any rich human food. But should this occur it would not be likely to be too serious and in any case, it would be expected to quickly pass on its own.
2. However, be aware that there is a well documented danger in that overripe or festering blue cheese can produce a toxin called Roquefortine C which dogs are particularly susceptible to and deaths have occurred. This has normally followed dogs eating quantities of discarded old and mouldy cheese in the trash.
3. Roquefortine C can cause symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea, high temperatures and even seizures. The risk of these symptoms is higher if your dog has eaten a large amount of discarded blue cheese.
4. If less than an hour has passed since your dog ate a quantity of blue cheese then you may want to play safe and induce vomiting. For the sake of speed, I will give you a link on how to do this best: LINK
5. But of course, if you think that your dog may be suffering from Roquefortine C toxicity then you should take your dog to a local ER vet without delay.
